Mobile Learning

What does Mobile Learning look like?

• learning on the go using your portable devices like a cell phone, laptop, or tablet

What is a podcast?

• an audio file which can be played on smart phones and computers, as well as less sophisticated devices like an mp3 player

What are the advantages or disadvantages to podcasting?

• less costly
• less distracting
• higher retention
• no visualization
• easy to zone off while listening

What are the current results of educators who have used podcasting?

• positive so far: teachers use the podcast as a sneak peak, so to speak, of what they will work on the next day. The podcast becomes the homework and the review and assignment occur the next day. Not having to teach the lesson before class does allow more time to help the students but why are we becoming teachers if not to, what was it again? Oh yeah: Teach.

How would you begin podcasting?

• I would have to begin by finding out if it would even be worth the effort to make one. Can everyone in the class get access? If so, then i would need to learn how to make one and distribute it to my class. But to make sure they are actually following it I would have to include some type of short activity and allow an allotted pause period that i can monitor from my own computer or device to know when they are participating and that they are fully reviewing the podcast.

I stopped using Tumblr because all of this clicking and new tabs and having to find my way back to my home page is just so very confusing.
